Do set the right goal and remember your goal.

Yes, this sounds too obviously tongue in cheek and saccharine, but the motivation must come from your heart. If you want to lose 10 pounds for a great bikini body in time for beach season, go for it! Don’t worry about being shallow. Reading beauty magazines, posting up a picture of your ideal body in the ideal bikini with your face photoshopped on just might do the trick.
On the other hand, if you want and need to lose 30 pounds because of health concerns, keep your health as a priority and be patient with counting down the numbers. Reward yourself for how much lighter, healthier and happier you feel rather than punishing yourself for not having lost 5 pounds every week.

Don’t be a slave to the scale or the clock.

While scales and time are necessary tools for measuring and tracking your weight loss they are not tools for losing weight motivation. After two days of dieting and exercising people may see some results. These results are not necessarily proportionate to the weight that is to come off in the next few weeks or months ahead.
