Do’s And Don’ts For Losing Weight Motivation

Do’s And Don’ts For Losing Weight Motivation

Whether you have a personal trainer or not, whether you want to lose 10 pounds or a hundred pounds, gaining and sustaining proper motivation for weight loss can be tricky. But with the right attitude, insight into yourself and a healthy goal aligned to your needs, anyone can have success with maintaining losing weight motivation and reach the desired goal. Here is a list of Do’s and Don’ts for gaining and keeping a healthy motivation for a successful weight loss.

Do set the right goal and remember your goal.

Aligning your motivation with a healthy weight loss is the first and most important step in a successful diet. Depending on your goal, your strategies and reward can vary drastically. If your goal is not exactly what you want, but what you think you should aim for or if you just follow what other people tell you, you may be sabotaging your losing weight motivation from the start.
Yes, this sounds too obviously tongue in cheek and saccharine, but the motivation must come from your heart. If you want to lose 10 pounds for a great bikini body in time for beach season, go for it! Don’t worry about being shallow. Reading beauty magazines, posting up a picture of your ideal body in the ideal bikini with your face photoshopped on just might do the trick.
On the other hand, if you want and need to lose 30 pounds because of health concerns, keep your health as a priority and be patient with counting down the numbers. Reward yourself for how much lighter, healthier and happier you feel rather than punishing yourself for not having lost 5 pounds every week.

Don’t be a slave to the scale or the clock.

While scales and time are necessary tools for measuring and tracking your weight loss they are not tools for losing weight motivation. After two days of dieting and exercising people may see some results. These results are not necessarily proportionate to the weight that is to come off in the next few weeks or months ahead.
Losing more weight than expected, faster the time frame expected, can be rewarding but it can also back fire. Most often people may feel overly confident if they exceed their expected goal of weight loss. This can be a recipe for disaster that will throw your motivation right out the window. Why would you be motivated to stick to your regiment if you think you can do well or better than it?
So, what should you do? It may be a good idea to space out the time to step on the scale. Remember, your body is not a calculator; give it time to get used to the changes that are hopefully healthful, and allow room for a little fluctuation. You may actually see a pound or two gained before you see five pounds come off; if this happens don’t get discouraged. What is important is the end result.
To have a successful weight loss, maintain proper motivation by aligning your goals to what you really want and focus on the final result.
